Monday 12/13

This week we will be starting our 5 paragraph essay process. We will be taking this step by step to ensure that everyone follows along.

In the mean time... vocab 7 is due for HL only on Tuesday, 12/14.

And...please take a look at your score on the Grammar Exam. Anyone who got a D+ or lower is required to stay after Thursday for a review and retake session. People who missed the test should also plan to be there Thursday. You will take the 4:30 bus home. If you cannot be there at that time, you need to make other arrangements with me.

Thanks!

Grammar

This week we finished our grammar unit. To review for the test kids had to complete a "study guide" poster.
Here is what needed to be on the poster:
* Noun
* Pronoun
* Adjective
* Verb
* Adverb
* Preposition
* Conjunction
* Interjection
* Sentence Types: Exclamatory, Interrogative, Imperative, Declarative
* Subject
* Predicate

These words need to be defined and examples need to be given.

We took the final exam today. Kids who did not pass will need to stay after with me on Thursday for a review session and to retake the test. I will have grades in by Monday.

In other news, the JH play is this weekend and I hope you get a chance to see the show! Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2:30 at the SH auditorium. Tickets available at the door :)

Week of 12/6

This week we are going to be practicing our grammar and ultimately taking the test. I want to be sure that kids are ready first, so today and tomorrow are devoted to doing practice. Wednesday we will check in again to see where we are and then we will determine if we are ready to test either the second half of class on Wednesday or on Thursday.

Vocab 7 is not due until 12/ 14

Anniversary of Rosa Parks Bus Protest

Today we are spending time in class discussing this important historical event and using it to practice writing a different sentence types: declarative, exclamatory, interrogative, imperative. These will all be on the upcoming grammar test. The grammar test will also look at the kids understanding of:
Subject/ Predicate
Nouns
Verbs
Adjective
Adverbs
Pronouns
Prepositions

I plan to give this test next Wednesday, but that will change if I feel the kids are not ready. I will be looking to some pre-tests to check in on their readiness.

Vocab Lesson 6 was due yesterday, but I am accepting for full credit until tomorrow. The SL lesson is now on the right. Lesson 6 quiz will be given on Friday for both HL and SL.
